Join Chief White of the Ottawa Police Service and emergency rescue agents from the Ottawa Humane Society as they kick off registration for the 21st IAMS Wiggle Waggle Walkathon. Together with a four-legged friend, they’ll encourage the community to get started raising money to help the animals.

Date: Wednesday, July 29
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: St. Laurent Shopping Centre (Centre Court)

The Wiggle Waggle Walkathon takes place Sept. 13, 2009 at the Arboretum of the Central Experimental Farm. It’s the largest event of its kind in Eastern Ontario and the leading fundraiser for the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS). Over 1,000 walkers are expected to attend this year’s event, with the goal of raising more than $165,000 to support essential OHS programs and services, including the emergency team, which rescues animals in distress, investigates cases of abuse and neglect, and provides urgent ambulance transportation for injured and sick stray animals in Ottawa.

St. Laurent Centre is a new sponsor for this year’s walkathon, graciously providing gift cards to VIP walkers — those who raise more than $500 in pledges.

Online and team registration is now available. To sign up, or for more information on walk activities, visit www.ottawahumane.ca/walkathon.
