Hi! I’m Bailey. My journey to the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) began at a flea market in Quebec in mid-September. I was so thrilled, I thought I had finally found my forever home. I was too excited to sit still. I wanted to explore every inch of my new home! Unfortunately my adventurous nature got the best of me and I took a bad tumble off the couch. The next thing I remember I wasn’t able to use my leg properly and couldn’t stop crying because of the pain. My family took me to the vet, but discovered after X-rays that my medical care would be too much for them to afford. The thought of leaving my new family scared me, but I knew that the OHS would be able to give me a chance at using my leg again.
The staff immediately fell in love with my affectionate and quiet nature. I wasn’t surprised, I am pretty adorable! The veterinarian explained to me that my little puppy legs weren’t strong enough for the big jump I attempted and I had broken two bones in my front leg. Special orthopedic surgery would be the only option if I ever wanted to use my leg again.
I am currently being kept under close observation until my surgery. Once my surgery is completed I’ve been told I get to go spend some quality TLC time with a foster volunteer. I hope they love me as much as the OHS staff has!
