OHS hosts back to school adoption promotion throughout month of September

September 1, 2009
For immediate release

It’s back to school time across the city, and to commemorate the change in season, the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) is sending each new animal adopted from its shelter during the month of September home with a back to school kit to help him or her start a new life off on the right foot.

The kits are packed with tips on how to integrate an animal into a new home, and also contain extra goodies, like a collar and toys, to ensure the new relationship is fun as well as safe.

There are currently dozens of wonderful cats and dogs looking for new homes. Some have been at the shelter for several weeks already and are eager to join new and loving families.

Among the terrific cats in need of a new home, is Paul, a 14-year-old neutered male. Paul’s a social guy, who would welcome the chance to live out his days cuddling in a warm lap, or perched in a windowsill watching the world go by. Senior cats like Paul make excellent companions, as older animals have developed personalities and are less likely to climb up your curtains or go fishing in your aquarium. Adopting a mature cat means you can avoid the demanding stages of raising a kitten and simply enjoy the many benefits of having a cat in your home.

Paul (A106931) is one of many cats currently available for adoption at the OHS.

The kits will only be available for adoptions completed at the Champagne Avenue shelter. For more information on the wonderful animals currently available for adoption, visit the OHS website at www.ottawahumane.ca.
