A Raccoon's Misadventures in a Raspberry Patch

Earlier this month I attended a call with OSPCA Agent Hammond. A hungry raccoon had been stealing raspberries from a garden, and accidentally got tangled in twine. Stuck there for several hours, the owner of the raspberries phoned the OHS to help the little guy.

In the middle of the thick bushes, I could see the juvenile raccoon resting on the ground. Despite his exhaustion, he let it be known he didn’t like people. Agent Hammond had to restrain him to be able to cut off the twine from his leg.

A few snips later, Agent Hammond freed his leg. He decided “enough is enough”, wiggled out of the restraint, and took off running. Hopefully he has learned to avoid raspberry patches!
